28 Dec Google’s new data testing tool – Rich Results
Google announces the launch of a new version of structured data testing tool called as ‘Rich Results’
What are rich results?
Google explains that all the advance snippets, advance cards and enriched results would be considered while making a search in search engine. These advanced tools are called as ‘Rich results’
Why Rich Results?
Rich results are the new testing tool that focuses on the structure data type rather than showing all the results randomly. They are more precise and help the audience better.
Rich Results enables you to test all data sources on your pages, including the recommended JSON-LD, Microdata or RDFa. Google said this new version is a “more accurate reflection of the page’s appearance on Search and includes improved handling for Structured Data found on dynamically loaded content.”
When search results provide pages, the users have to decide which page is relevant to them and which is not. But with Rich results, the search results would provide structured content based on the advanced search of the user to make it easier for the user to find what he is looking for. The user can put the label beside the search to advance his search result. For example, when you search ‘Navi Mumbai Restaurants’ the search result will crawl to all the restaurants in Navi Mumbai and give results instead of showing results for Navi Mumbai and Restaurants separately.
How to advance your site’s search result to make it compatible with ‘Rich Results’?
- Use rich snippets markup inline in your HTML. This option also enables rich snippets in Google Web Search
- Use meta tags to identify key information in your documents.
- Add PageMapdata to your HTML page. This option enables you to add actions (such as a Download link) or custom attributes to your snippet.
